[Cross Country] IWU Women's Cross Country 18th at NAIA National Championship

VANCOUVER, Wash. ---The NAIA Cross Country National Championships were held on Saturday, November 21 in Vancouver, Washington.

Indiana Wesleyan was represent by the women's cross country team who placed 18th of 32 teams while sophomore Ethan Naylor placed 204th as an individual in the men's race.

The Wildcat women scored 438 points and finished just seven points behind Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University for 16th place.

California State-San Marcos won the national championship with 137 points. Biola (Calif.) University was close behind in second place with 140 points while defending champion Malone (Ohio) University was third at 163 points.

In the team competition, Laura Dziagwa was the top runner for Indiana Wesleyan in 50th place. She crossed the line of the 5,000-meter course in a time of 19:36. Cassidy Wagner ended the race in 64th with a time of 19:48.

Emily Dean earned 99 points for the Wildcats and ran a time of 20:09 while Kailee Whitaker raced to a 20:16 and finished in 105th place. The final scorer for IWU was Amanda Johnson in 120th place in 20:27.

Also competing for Indiana Wesleyan at the national championship were Anna Morgan (133rd, 20:34) and Angela Arvoy (140th, 20:41.)

Winning the individual championship was Justyna Mudy from Shorter (Ga.) College. Mudy won the meet in a time of 17:30, 21 seconds ahead of the runner-up.

Naylor was the only Wildcat on the men's team that qualified for the national championship race. He finished 204th overall in the 323 runner field as he completed the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:28.
