[Outdoor Track & Field] Outdoor T&F Collects seven NAIA Standards at Ball State, Bucknell

MARION, Ind. – The Indiana Wesleyan University outdoor track and field teams competed on Saturday at two different meets against NCAA Division I competition. A majority of the Wildcats competed at the Ball State Challenge in Muncie while distance runners competed at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Challenge in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

Indiana Wesleyan faced tough competition against the DI competition but faired extremely well with seven NAIA standards. Five of the standards happened at the Ball State Challenge, led by Brennan Coil’s two NAIA A standards in the Shot Put and Discus. Landon Miller and Adam Fields earned NAIA standard for the Wildcats at Bucknell.

 

NAIA STANDARDS AT BALL STATE CHALLENGE

Brennan Coil secured an NAIA A standard in the Discus with a throw of 49.84-meters/136-6 feet. His throw was second of 25 competitors.

Brennan Coil picked up a second NAIA A standard on Saturday with a throw of 17.60-meters/57-9 feet. Coil claimed second place out of 21 throwers.

Scott Rathbun earned an NAIA B standard in the Pole Vault with a height of 4.65-meters/15-3 feet. His mark was second of nine vaulters.

Jessica Sprinkles finished the 800-Meter Run in a time of 2:15.51. That time is an NAIA B standard and she placed fifth of 64 runners.

Paige Sutter threw the Shot Put 13.29-meters/43-7.25 feet for a fifth place finish in the 27-thrower field. Her mark earned her an NAIA B standard.


NAIA STANDARDS AT BUCKNELL BISON OUTDOOR CLASSIC

Landon Miller ran a time of 9:24.29 in the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase for a 15th place finish out of 61 runners. His time is a NAIA B standard and missed the NAIA A standard by a mere 0.29 seconds.

Adam Fields gained an NAIA A standard in the 10,000-Meters. Fields ran a time of 31:06.55 to place third out of 37 runners.

 

NEXT FOR THE WILDCATS

Indiana Wesleyan hosts the Indiana Little State Championships next Saturday, April 20. The first event of the day is the Women’s 10,000-Meters at 9:30 a.m.
