[Indoor Track & Field] Men's Indoor T&F Capture Top-10 Finish, Coil Wins Shot Put ...Published by
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Saturday capped a tremendous week of competition for the Indiana Wesleyan University men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams at the NAIA National Championships. The men’s team earned the program’s best finish at the indoor national meet with a seventh place finish while the women earned 28th overall. The men’s team completed a strong week with All-American performances in all five Saturday events. Highlighting the All-American honors was the individual national championship for Brennan Coil in the Shot Put. He set a new PR on his final throw of the event to capture the second indoor national championship in program history. Joining Coil with All-American performances on Saturday for the men’s team were Chris Maxon in the 5,000-Meter, Landon Miller and Jesse Saxton in the 3,000-Meter, and the Distance Medley Relay. Jessica Sprinkles gave the women’s team one more NAIA All-American with her seventh place finish in the 800-Meter. It gives Sprinkles two All-American runs this weekend as she also accomplished the feat in the 4x800 Relay earlier this week.

“What an amazing weekend and fun way to finish our indoor season. The women’s team finished with five All-Americans and the men’s team finished with eight. Our men’s finish was the highest indoor finish in program history and we finished the weekend with five top-3 finishes between both teams.” “I take very little credit for this because the coaching staff that we have on this team is so special and we wouldn’t have finished the way we did without them. The coaching staff and I are blown away by where the team is right now, and we are thrilled to be heading into outdoor now. We have a lot of momentum and a lot of work left to do, but it is exciting to see the potential this group has.”
Indiana Wesleyan has completed the indoor season and next get to work on the outdoor season. The first meet is in three weeks with the annual Polar Bear Invitational on March 23. Read the full article at: www.iwuwildcats.com
